Pharmacists & Pregnancy: Preconception Health from the Pharmacist’s Perspective with Dr. Blanco & Dr. Falto

Today, we have two special guests on the Talk to Your Pharmacist podcast.
Dr. Gabriela Falto was born in Puerto Rico. She completed a bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Sciences with a Dual program in pharmacy. Dr. Falto obtained a doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) from Nova Southeastern University, PR. Since then, she began working as a clinical pharmacist in a hospital pharmacy providing pharmaceutical care to the inpatient population. Later on, Dr. Falto was the clinical pharmacist assigned to the Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant ward in the hospital setting where she monitored and evaluated patient specific drug therapy management plans. Dr. Falto is also the co-creator with friend and colleague Dr. Lisandra Blanco of Instagram page Pharmacists and Pregnancy, focused on pharmaceutical care before, during, and after pregnancy.

Dr. Lisandra Blanco was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in industrial microbiology at the University of Puerto Rico. Then she got her doctor degree in pharmacy at Nova Southeastern University, PR campus. Since graduation she began to work in a retail pharmacy as a staff pharmacist. This work experience gave her the opportunity to provide pharmaceutical care according to the needs of the patients in every different setting, addressing concerns, providing immunizations and advice on treatments. Also counseled and educated all kinds of patients on proper administration of prescription and OTC medications, precautions, storage, and possible side effects.
